Wyoming Day 1

We drove out to the Two Sisters site this morning. Getting to Two Sisters requires driving a couple of miles along a 4-wheel-drive trail, then walking another quarter mile or so.

Much to my surprise, we found our first bones before lunch–the probable sauropod toe bone shown above. We pretty quickly found several more. Below, Brett is working on a limb bone, possibly a humerus:

Decker and Amy worked most of the day on what appears to be an enormous sauropod rib. If we’ve identified it correctly, this bone could end up being 5 feet or more in length:

As long as the weather holds, we’ll be going in again tomorrow morning.
