I’m currently in Baltimore for the joint meeting of the Northeastern and Southeastern Sections of the Geological Society of America. The meeting proper actually gets underway tomorrow morning, and lasts through Tuesday afternoon (there are also pre- and post-meeting field trips, but I’m not going on any of those).
GSA is a huge organization, and even the regional meetings are large affairs. To give you an idea of the size of this meeting, there are a total of 84 technical sessions over three days, including both talks and posters. Each session has as few as three and as many as 35 presentations, but average around ten, so there are probably well over 800 presentations during the meeting. Needless to say, I won’t be seeing all of them! I will, however, be going to quite a few, and as I’ve done at past meetings, I’ll try to post daily summaries of what I’ve seen.
You can view all the abstracts for this meeting here.
