Lycopod trunk now on exhibit

Last year Boxley Materials donated and delivered to VMNH a large lycopod trunk section from the Beckley Quarry. Thanks to Boxley also manufacturing a cradle to hold the specimen, we’re now able to place the trunk on permanent exhibit in “Uncovering Virginia” at the entrance to the Grundy exhibit:

The new lycopod trunk joins a large lycopod stump, also from West Virginia, that was already part of the exhibit:

Thanks again to Boxley for this great addition to the “Uncovering Virginia” exhibit.

This Saturday I’ll be attending the 4th Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Association of Vertebrate Paleontology, which is being held this year in Gainesville, Florida. As in the past, I’ll be summarizing the meeting on the blog, so look for those posts this weekend.
