Governor McAuliffe visits the Paleontology Lab

2014-01-31aThis afternoon Virginia’s recently elected governor Terry McAuliffe visited VMNH for a tour of the Paleontology Lab.

Governor McAuliffe viewed a caddisfly from the Solite Quarry, the holotype specimen of Eobalaenoptera harrisoniand various whales in the lab currently undergoing preparation. We also discussed the now-almost-completed Castoroides mount that we’ve been working on for the last few months. Ray, Tim, and I also did a short casting demonstration in which we poured and demolded a cast of the humerus of Eobalaenoptera.

Thanks to Governor McAuliffe and his staff for taking time out of their busy schedule to stop by the lab and see what we’ve been up to!

Edited for clarity.
